Bangor Road Resurfacing Project

A project to resurface a portion of Odlin Road between I-395 and Ammo Park in Bangor will begin on Monday, August 19th. This work will include rehabilitating the existing gravel shoulders, grinding existing pavement and placing new surface pavement on the roadway, and replacing the deteriorated railroad crossing near Perry Road.

Exit 113 Temporary Traffic Pattern Starts Monday, August 19th

Augusta ? As the Augusta Exit 113 improvements continue, a temporary traffic pattern will begin starting Monday, August 19th.

Traffic normally using the Exit 113 southbound entering ramp will be rerouted from the intersection of Route 3 and Route 104 onto Route 104 (West River Road) southerly to the Old Belgrade Road. Detoured traffic will then be routed from Old Belgrade Road through the newly constructed west roundabout onto the Exit 113 southbound entering ramp.

Richmond-Dresden Bridge Reduced to One Lane

Richmond ? The Richmond-Dresden Bridge, carrying traffic on Route 197 over the Kennebec River, will be reduced to one lane on Tuesday, August 20th.

As crews continue this bridge replacement project, it is necessary to move equipment on and off the current bridge resulting alternating one-way traffic for approximately 16 to 18 hours beginning at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20th. Flaggers will assist motorists during the time of the lane closure.

This $17.6 million bridge replacement project is being performed by Reed and Reed, Inc., of Woolwich.

New Gloucester Rail Track Safety Repairs to Start This Week

New Gloucester ? Crews will be conducting railroad crossing safety repairs on the Morse Road in New Gloucester beginning at 6a.m. on Thursday, August 22nd until late afternoon on Friday, August 23rd.

The repairs will result in the Morse Road being closed at this crossing to all traffic. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes that include the detour routes of Penney Road in New Gloucester and Depot Road into Gray.

This work, performed by Pan Am Railways, will include replacing the rail crossing, with signals expected to be installed this fall.

Detour on Broadway in South Portland Begins Monday

South Portland ? A paving project on Broadway between Lincoln Street and Route 1 (Cash Corner) in South Portland will necessitate a detour around this area beginning on Monday, August 26th. Weather permitting, normal traffic patterns should return by September 7th.

Westbound traffic (outbound) on Broadway will be detoured onto Lincoln Street to Main Street to Cash Corner. Eastbound traffic on Broadway will not be affected.

South Portland Bus Service Maine Mall Route 24B will also follow the detour route.

Railroad Repairs at a Second Location in New Gloucester

New Gloucester ? On Monday, August 26th, crews will be conducting railroad crossing safety repairs on Route 231 near the intersection of Woodman Road beginning at 7 a.m. Repairs will be completed by early evening on Tuesday, August 27th.

These repairs will result in a road closure to all traffic at this location. It is anticipated one lane will be open for motorists by mid-day on Tuesday, with a completion scheduled for early evening.

Overnight Paving on I-295 Continues

Portland ? Night time paving work continues on I-295 from Scarborough to the Portland/Falmouth town line. Motorists need to be aware that this week, a number of on and off-ramps will be worked on from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • Monday, August 26th: Exit 6B on and off ramps for pavement ?milling.? Drivers will need to use Exit 7 to Marginal Way to exit to Franklin Street to enter and exit I-295

I-295 Overnight Paving Continues

Portland ? Crews continue overnight paving work on I-295 from Scarborough to the Portland/Falmouth town line.

Tonight, Thursday, September 5th, Exit 1 on and off ramps in Scarborough/South Portland northbound will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5a.m. Motorists will need to use Exit 4 to exit the interstate and use Exit 3 to enter the interstate or seek alternate routes.

Update: I-295 Crash

State Police say the southbound lanes of I-295 have been shut down by Back Bay in Portland following a one vehicle crash. Troopers said a minivan struck the southbound guardrail about 1 pm and two children were thrown from the vehicle. The boy and girl, both elementary school aged, have been taken to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries, although not believed to be life threatening. Also in the vehicle was man and woman who suffered minor injuries.

Overnight Paving on I-295 Continues Next Week

Portland ? Crews will continue paving on and off ramps from Scarborough to the Portland/Falmouth town line.

On Sunday, September 8th from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the Exit 7 on ramp for both north and southbound access will be closed for surface pavement removal. Motorists will need to enter I-295 from Forest Avenue via Marginal Way.

Also on Sunday the 8th from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., the Route 1A on ramp to Veterans Bridge in South Portland will be closed for bridge joint work. Travelers will need to enter I-295 northbound and exit on Exit 5 to turn onto the Parkway.
