Genealogy Collection - Maine State Library

Description of Collection:

The genealogy collection spans a large geographical area, with primary emphasis on Maine. We have state, county and town histories, published vital records, town and county reports of Maine, cemetery records, early court and probate records, Maine census from 1790 through 1850, ships passenger lists, French-Canadian records, publications of the D.A.R. and other hereditary patriotic organizations, how-to genealogy books, and thousands of family histories. We have major Maine newspapers on microfilm. We also offer online access to Ancestry.com and HeritageQuest.

Circulation/Access Policy:
Genealogies and vital records are restricted to the library. Patrons are limited to 2 town histories. Books on methodology circulate freely.
