- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 9 am - 8 pm
- Friday: 9 am - 5 pm
- Saturday: 9 am - 2 pm
The Library will be closed on all holidays observed by the State of Maine.
Location
The Maine State Library is located in the
Cultural building in the State House Complex
in Augusta, near the State Capitol building. The
Cultural building also houses the Maine State
Archives and the Maine State Museum.

Driving Directions 
From the South
- From I-95, take Exit 109 (the first Augusta
exit).
- Bear right toward downtown Augusta, merging
onto US Route 202-East (Western Avenue).
- At the 3rd traffic signal (about ½ mile)
turn right onto Armory Street (following
dark blue and white directional sign for "State
Offices West").
- At the next traffic signal, turn right
onto Sewall Street.
- Turn left into the large parking lot,
following sign for "State Museum, Library,
Archives".
- The State Library is in the large flat-roofed
building to your right (see photo above).
From the North
- From I-95, take Exit 109A (the third Augusta
interchange as you come south).
- Follow steps 2-6 of "From the South".
From the West
- Follow US Route 202-East to Augusta (where
it becomes Western Avenue).
- After the I-95 interchange, follow steps
3-6 of "From the South".
From the East
From Route 3
- Follow Route 3 to I-95 and the I-95 ramp
to Augusta-Portland.
- Take I-95 South to Exit 109A.
- Follow steps 2-6 of "From the South".
From Route 17
- Follow Route 17 to Route 201 South at the
East Side Traffic Circle in Augusta.
- Go three-quarters of the way around the
circle, following Route 201 South.
- At the next traffic circle, go three-quarters
of the way around, still following Route
201.
- At the second traffic light, turn right
into the parking lot.
- The library is the large building on your
left at the top of the rise.
