Circulation Support Volunteer

Time Commitment

2-4 hours, weekly, minimum 6 month commitment

Responds to the needs of the circulation department, providing support for behind the scene projects and activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • May assist with any of the following, or similar, tasks: mending of books and magazines; completing patron record maintenace in library automation system; weeding paperback collection; placing materials in shelf ready order on book carts; re-shelving materials; pulling reserved material off shelves and contacting the patron for pick up

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Required

  • Ability to operate computer equipment quickly and efficiently, with minimal training in the library's automation system
  • Ability to work congenially with staff, patrons and other volunteers
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, policies and procedures
  • General familiarity with libraries
  • Good people skills
  • In-house training required
