Coordinator of Teen Community Service Volunteers

Time Commitment

2-4 hours, weekly, minimum 6 month commitment

Purpose

Develop and coordinate community service opportunities, engaging young members of the community and investing them in their community and library.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Instruct and motivate teen community service volunteers
  • Develop service opportunities in cooperation with the library staff
  • Implement service program utilizing community service volunteers
  • Interface with community contacts to retain/recruit volunteers
  • Educate community contacts regarding program focus and intent

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Required

  • Experience working with a variety of groups, ages, and backgrounds
  • Supervisory experience dealing with individuals, small and large groups
  • Experience in setting short and long-term goals
  • Self-motivated a must; able to work independently
  • Skill set includes ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to speak and understand English and to convey a positive, friendly attitude
  • Ability to work patiently with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent oral communication and written skills
