StoryTime Conductor

Time Commitment

1-2 hours, weekly, 3 month commitment

Purpose

To meet the growing demand for quality storytimes, volunteers will be trained to assist library staff in planning and performing storytimes. Once trained, storytime conductors will perform their own storytimes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Gathers materials, and help staff in set up and take down storytimes
  • Assists staff in performing storytimes
  • Performs assigned storytime

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Required

  • Upbeat, friendly demeanor
  • Love working with children and parents
  • Familiarity with children's literature
  • Good organizational skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking and singing, particularly in front of young children
  • Minimum age is 16
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work congenially with staff, patrons and other volunteers
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, policies and procedures
  • Must have a clear, loud reading voice
