Book Guardian

Time Commitment

1-2 hours, weekly, 3 month commitment

Purpose

Maintains books in good repair so they can continue to be enjoyed by patrons.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Cleans book covers
• Replaces worn book jackets
• Repairs book hinges and other spine damage
• Affixes loose pages
• Mends torn pages

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Required

• Meticulous attention to detail and pride in good workmanship
• Ability to work with glue, tape, scissors, cloth hinges, book cleaning solution, and book jacket covers
• Ability to work congenially with staff, patrons and other volunteers
• Ability to receive instruction from library staff, and the cooperation to abide by library policies and regulations
