Homebound/Community Outreach Services Assistant

Time Commitment

2-4 hours, monthly

Delivery driver providing delivery service of library materials to our homebound patrons.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Picks up totes from the library
  • Delivers materials to homebound patrons
  • Monitors patron satisfaction using pre-set list of questions

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Required

  • Ability to speak and understand English and to convey a positive, friendly attitude
  • Ability to work congenially with staff, patrons, and other volunteers
  • Ability to provide dependable transportation, so as to be punctual, and the ability to be contacted by telephone scheduling changes and meetings
  • Ability to receive instruction from library staff and the cooperation to abide by library policies and regulations
  • Ability to lift and carry tote bags full of books weighing approximately 20 lbs. a piece.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Maintains confidentiality in dealing with patron information
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, library employees, volunteers, and the elderly and disabled while maintaining tact, patience, courtesy and confidentiality
