Thank you for your service to our country.
Thank you for your service to our country.
I'm writing in honor of my husband. He served during the Vietnam War. That war may be over but it will never be over for my husband. It left many wounds and scars, although not visible to the human eye they're in his heart and mind. It is only by his faith in God that he is able to bear this burden. He has a great love for his country and fellow soldiers. In spite of his PTSD he has become a great husband, father, and grandfather. We love him dearly. It is through my husband and men like him, past and present that our country enjoys the freedoms we do today.

Thomas Gould enlisted in Company 1 of the 16th Maine Volunteers on July 19th, 1862 and served till June 5 of 1865, being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He returned with a recurring case of malaria, and suffered all his long life from what today we would call PTSD. Read about his life in "A Maine Man in the Making," by his son, Franklin F. Gould.
I am proud that you volunteered to go with the 152nd when you could have stayed home with me and avoided this trying deployment, you will never regret your sacrifice. Thank you for making this world safer from terrorism for me, our families, and all Americans. You are my hero and I love you!

Your dedication and willingness to keep our beautiful country we call "home" peaceful and safe is honorable. I love and respect you so much, Dad. Thank God for you.
