AUGUSTA, MAINE – The Secretary of State’s Office today announced that the final deadline for political parties to name replacements for candidates who have voluntarily withdrawn passed today at 5 p.m. Per Maine statute, beyond today’s date, political parties will only be able to replace a candidate due to the death of a candidate or “a catastrophic illness, condition or injury that has permanently and continuously incapacitated the candidate and would prevent performance of the duties of the office sought.”
The list of candidate withdrawals and replacement candidate nominations for the November 3, 2026 General Election is also posted on the Upcoming Elections page of the Secretary of State website.
