If you would like your Historical Society listed, please fill out the information form (Word) and return to Records Management. Also, if possible, email a high resolution photo (jpg preferred) of the exterior of your building. If you can't email a photo, please send one and we will have our Imaging Specialist scan.
We feel adding the Maine Historical Societies to our web site will be beneficial to the Maine State Archives, Historical Organizations and citizens looking for historic resources throughout Maine.

Does your organization have historical records?
"Historical records" means record material having permanent or enduring value regardless of physical form or characteristics, including but not limited to manuscripts, personal papers, official records, maps, and audiovisual materials.
In the public sector, these historical records document significant activities of State, county, municipal, and other units of government. In the private sector, historical records include manuscripts, personal papers, and family or corporate archives that are maintained by a variety of general repositories as well as materials in special collections relating to particular fields of study, including the arts, business, education, ethnic and minority groups, immigration, labor, politics, professional services, religion, science, urban affairs, and women.
They generally do not include published materials, such as books, magazines and newspapers.
