The Bailey Library is in need of a part-time Library Technician to work in our busy lakeside library. The library is a dynamic community center located in the summer resort town of Winthrop, situated between two beautiful lakes in a downtown setting, halfway between the service centers of Augusta and Lewiston.

In this position we will look to you to help create a wonderful and transformative library experience for the Winthrop community.

The role of this position is to provide excellent customer service to library members in an effective, efficient and professional manner. The position requires someone with a friendly, approachable style and an ease with technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Warmly welcome customers into our library and ensure a great library experience to each and every customer.
  • Perform circulation activities, including checking materials out and the registration of users.
  • Respond to customer and staff inquiries in person, by email, or over the phone.
  • Teach customers how to use the library's online catalog and digital resources.
  • Constantly explore great conversations, talking to our library members about the programs and services available at the library.
  • Resolve problems, interpret policy and use good judgment in responding to customer needs.
  • Assist in the opening and closing of the library.

This is a part-time position that includes generous prorated sick and vacation time, as well as all paid state holidays.
