Maine’s New Building Codes: What Communities Need to Know

Maine’s new energy and building codes went into effect on April 7, 2025, leading to energy savings while improving health and safety in new residential and commercial construction. The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Governor’s Energy Office, and the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future are sharing information about the updated codes to ensure that homeowners, code enforcement officers, builders, and others are aware of the changes. There will be a public webinar on the new codes on Wednesday, May 21 from 12-1pm.
