The Agriculture Specialty Plate is available as a passenger plate and a commercial plate (to be used on vehicles with a registered weight of 10,001 lbs. or more).

Q: How much does the Agriculture Specialty plate cost?

A: The fee is $20.00 in addition to the regular registration fee when first purchasing the plates. Each renewal is an additional $15.00. The plates will be issued in a unique numbering sequence, beginning with 101-AGA for the passenger sequence, 101-AGC for the commercial sequence, and 101-AGF for the farm sequence.

Vanity plates are available in the Agriculture Specialty plate series with a maximum of six characters. The fee is an additional $25.00 in addition to the the registration and specialty plate fees. Agriculture vanity plates cannot duplicate a vanity plate that is already issued in another class of plate. You may search and order a vanity plate online.

Q: Where does the money go?

A: The Maine Agriculture Education Fund receives $10.00 from each purchase and renewal fee. The Agricultural Plate will generate funds to be used for Agricultural education in Maine. Training and materials for teachers, grants for agricultural programs in school and field trips are some programs these funds will support.

Q: Where can the Agricultural plates be purchased?

A: At all Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicle Branch Offices and at many town offices. If the plates are not available in your town, they can be purchased at the nearest branch office or by mailing a copy of your registration and a check for $20 ($45 for vanity) made payable to the Secretary of State to: Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Specialty Plate Clerk, 29 State House Station, Augusta, Maine 04333.
