PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
The Division for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing & Late Deafened (DDHHLD) provides a variety of services for Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing and Late-Deafened citizens of Maine, including:
- Information, referral and advocacy
- Providing Deaf Identification Cards
- Providing Vehicle Placards for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Identification
- Providing 70% Discount In-State Calls for Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing & Late-Deafened Individuals
- Publishing the handbook "Resources: A Guide to Services for People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing"
- Promoting policies and legislation designed to increase and improve services for the deaf
- Providing a listing of Legal Interpreters
- Vocational Rehabilitation services for deaf, hard-of-hearing and late-deafened individuals are provided through the general VR program

The Division for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing & Late Deafened also manages contracts that provide a variety of services, including the Telecommunications Equipment Program, to Maine's Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing communities: Disability Rights Maine-Deaf Services
