Sewall Memorial Congregational Church, Robbinston, 1911

The Sewall Memorial Church is a notable example of religious architecture in the far eastern Washington County town of Robbinston, Maine. Erected in 1911 to replace an earlier church, the asymmetrically composed, wood-frame building with off-set tower is an example of a form of religious building that became increasingly common after the Civil War, due in part to widely distributed, published plans. Formerly known as the Robbinston Congregational Church, this building is the only example of late Victorian-era religious architecture in this small community. The listing in the National Register of Historic Places recognizes the Sewall Memorial Church?s local architectural significance.
