The house is reported to be the first constructed in the Addison Point section of town. The building has local significance and is eligible for the National Register under Criterion C architecture for its type, period, and method of construction. The period of significance is the construction date of the original 1819 section and the ca. 1830 addition. The building retains many of its character defining features like the center chimney, nine-over-six windows, interior and exterior finishes, and its design and circulation patterns. The building has retained these features for over 200 years and as a result has a high degree of integrity relative to other local examples.
