Located northwest of the town center, the Sam Perley Farm contains a good example of a Federal-style farmhouse. Two stories high, the house is sheathed in clapboards and topped by a side-gabled roof. The facade is symmetrical with a central entry located in a projecting vestibule. The entry door is flanked by sidelight windows and topped by a louvered fanlight. The gabled dormers were likely added later. A large chimney sits in the center of the roof. The farm also includes a carriage house, wellhouse, and barn. The property is notable for its association with Sam Perley who served in the state Legislature and was one of the founding trustees of the Maine State College of Agriculture and the Mechanic Arts that later became the University of Maine. He was also known for his progressive and successful farming, particularly in his endeavors to improve the quality of his herds and orchards. The house was built by Sam's father Thomas, notable as one of from one of the original proprietors of the town of Bridgton (from which Naples was later divided).
