Located on Foreside Road, the Randall-Hildreth House is a two-story dwelling in the Georgian style with a low-pitched hipped roof with two symmetrically placed interior chimneys. The front faade has a prominent entryway with a six-paneled door surrounded by a transom and sidelights. Above the doorway is a compound-roof pediment supported by ornate columns, likely added by the late nineteenth century. Other unique features include detailed wooden quoins (mimicking stone block) at all four corners of the house and dentils under the roofline. William Randall moved to Topsham from Scituate, Massachusetts, in 1766 to join his brothers who had already purchased land in the area. Little is known how Randall accumulated his sizable estate. He served as a town selectman in 1776 and on the Committee of Correspondence and Safety in 1778 and 1785. Local records describe him as a farmer and a "man of means and influence." William King, Maine's first Governor, was a frequent guest at the house. He married Jane Patten in 1783 and had three children. Eventually descending to Hildreth heirs, the home stayed in the family for 196 years.
