This one-and-a-half-story brick cape dwelling sits on a granite foundation with a gabled roof and two chimneys. The front facade is symmetrical with a central entrance flanked by sidelights. The Harper Family House also features a brick wing that is flush with the facade of the main block adding another entrance and two more windows. The house was built for Samuel Harper-a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Harper relocated from Brentwood, New Hampshire in 1787 with his wife Sarah and their seven children. Initially living in a log cabin, the exact date of construction for this house is unknown, but local folklore speculates that the brick house was built after Samuel and Sarah's only son, Ezekial, married Betsey Ames of Parsonsfield. The brick cape, likely the oldest in Limerick, was initially part of a 300-acre farm, but only five acres remain associated with the property. The home remained in possession of the family for 144 years.
