The State of Maine is pursuing the development of a floating offshore wind research array in the Gulf of Maine through the Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) and in collaboration with the Department of Marine Resources (DMR). This workshop is the next step in the State’s process to give fishermen and other stakeholders direct influence in the development of the proposed project. The workshop will set the direction for the work ahead in the coming months and launch two working groups – one focused on fisheries issues and one focused on wildlife issues.
Please join us to participate in A Workshop to Build Knowledge and Further Stakeholder Engagement for Maine’s Offshore Wind Research Array to help shape this project.
Objectives of the workshop include:
- Launch next step in stakeholder engagement process
- Introduce background information on floating offshore wind technology
- Briefly review and discuss: siting criteria, existing relevant data, and priority data gaps and potential research questions
- Clarify next steps and workplan
Registration is required. Please register for webinar here.
The State is fully committed to engaging stakeholders, in particular the fishing industry, in the development of the project, its siting, and the research questions that the initiative seeks to answer. If you have questions or can’t participate but would like to provide input on the research array, please email offshorewind@maine.gov.
