Forms & Reporting - Transportation

The following are the forms that the Maine Department of Education Student Transportation team requires.

Instructions

School Bus Retrofitting Reimbursement

In Maine’s supplemental budget, which Governor Janet Mills signed into law in April 2026, $5.9 million was allocated to improve school bus safety throughout the state. As part of that work, the Maine Department of Education (DOE) is now administering those funds to reimburse school administrative units (SAUs) for the retrofitting of school buses that do not have a front crossing arm.

SAUs should submit the completed reimbursement form as a PDF to Staci Warren at Staci.H.Warren@maine.gov. Questions regarding reimbursement may be directed to Cheryl Brackett at Cheryl.Brackett@maine.gov.

Transportation Data Reporting

The Maine DOE NEO transportation module collects school transportation reports that public schools are required to report to the state.  It is also a tool that school administrators can use to develop transportation plans and share data with school boards.  The district superintendent, business manager, and transportation director should have access to NEO Transportation.

Districts are encouraged to review the Maine DOE NEO DC&R Reporting Calendar to check report submission dates and the status of transportation reports.
