Comprehensive Needs Assessment and Schoolwide Plan Resources

Each public school must complete a Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) in order to receive federal funds. All schools seeking Title I schoolwide authority must also complete sections 2 and 10 of the CNA.

The Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) and Schoolwide Plan requirements are consolidated into one template and is the only needs assessment required by Maine DOE. Each SAU's CNA informs the direction of each federal program funding source, and is a reflection of the SAU's current state, practices, and plans. The SAU-level CNA identifies areas of strength, areas for improvement, and intended actions and the Schoolwide Plan outlines highest needs, activities, and goals for each Title I Schoolwide program.

The intent of the consolidated CNA/Schoolwide Plan is to create alignment between district and school goals, prevent the duplication of work and reporting to Maine DOE, and to create a purposeful and meaningful approach to leverage state, local, and federal funding.
