The Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC) welcomes proposals for documentary projects that support transparency, public education, and a deeper understanding of the human impact of the correctional system. We are committed to collaborating with filmmakers whose work aligns with our values and priorities, particularly those reflected in the Maine Model of Corrections—a rehabilitative approach centered on human dignity, accountability, and successful reintegration into society.
All proposals are carefully reviewed based on:
- Project purpose and public value
- Alignment with the Maine Model of Corrections
- Ethical considerations
- Safety and security implications
- Respect for victims' rights and privacy concerns
