Statistics Definitions (Based on Daily Worksheet version 1)
- Adult, YA and Juvenile Checkouts
- Count all materials of all types that are charged out for use outside the library. Interlibrary loan transactions include only items borrowed for patrons.
- Reference
- An information contact which involves the knowledge, recommendations, interpretation or instruction in the use of one or more information sources by a member of the library staff. The request may come in person, by phone, by fax, by mail or email. Examples: “Do you have a copy of David Copperfield?” or “How do you spell ‘disease?”
- Incoming Interlibrary Loans
- These are library materials, or copies of the materials, received by one autonomous library from another upon request.
- Outgoing Interlibrary Loans
- These are library materials, or copies of the materials, provided by one autonomous library to another upon request.
- Public Access Computer Usage
- Count each user that uses public internet computers, regardless of the amount of time spent on the computer. A user who uses the library's public internet computer(s) three times a year would count as three customers.
- Fines Collected
- Daily amount of money collected for overdues and other fines.
- Adult, YA, Juvenile Books Added
- Count of the number of items added to the library’s catalog.
- Adult, YA, Juvenile Books Discarded
- Count of the number of items removed from the library’s catalog.
- Number of Library Visits
- Count of the number of people who entered the library.
- Name of Program
- Record the title of the program; eg. “Toddler Time”
- Number Attending Program
- Count the number of people who attend the program. For children’s programs, count adults attending with their children.
