The City of Old Town is seeking a creative, energetic and dynamic individual to serve as Director of the Old Town Public Library. The position of Director requires knowledge of public organization, administrative practices; proficiency with technology; experience with budget administration and grant writing; the ability to plan and coordinate the work of others and to work well with public officials and community organizations. Enthusiasm, flexibility, self-motivation, and a commitment to public service are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science or related field with five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively, responsible experience in professional library work in a similar or larger library, including at least three (3) years' experience in administrative and supervisory responsibility at a public library is preferred.
  • Similar combinations of comparable education and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of library organization, budgeting, strategic planning, and a broad understanding of library services.
  • Administrative experience, and familiarity with automated library management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and supervise personnel, both professional and volunteer.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of current trends and developments, including innovations in information technology.
  • Ability to foster positive community relations and collaborate with other community departments and agencies.
