HOLLIS CENTER PUBLIC LIBRARY - LIBRARY DIRECTOR
The Library Director is a part-time, hands-on administrative role responsible for the daily operations of the Hollis Center Public Library, a vibrant, non-municipal, rural library. Key responsibilities include supervising all library staff, managing adult services, program planning, collection development, volunteer oversight, and community outreach. Working under the guidance of the Board of Trustees, you will play a vital role in maintaining our professional yet warm and welcoming community space.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee general operation of adult, young adult, genealogy and children's services.
- Maintain catalog and circulation systems, and participation in interlibrary loan program.
- Implement improvements in collection, adding, weeding and withdrawing as needed.
- Evaluate circulation materials and grow library collections.
- Partner with Board of Trustees in support of open communications, policy recommendations, long-range planning, and fundraising.
- Support creating and compliance of operational budget, manage the materials budget and petty cash, and submit bills to treasurer.
- Maintain contracts with publishers, organizations, local service providers and suppliers.
- Evaluate library statistics and compile regular reports, and materials budget.
- Patron and donor tracking and communications.
- Recruit, train, supervise and engage volunteers.
- Train and supervise small staff, implement personnel policies and oversee staff development.
- Design, develop and direct library programs, services, and events, including collaboration with neighboring libraries to enhance use of resources.
- Identify and report maintenance needs and maintain clutter-free environment.
- Schedule library hours, volunteers, programming and outside group use of facility.
- Represent and promote the Library in local schools, organizations and events.
- Contribute to social media and website, promote library in local community and news media.
- Support grant applications and adherence to grant requirements.
- Manage and grow local, state, district and professional affiliations.
- Attend Select Board budget meetings and other town meetings, as requested in support of the library.
MLS and library director experience preferred but not required. The rate of pay is $18 to $20 an hour depending on experience.
The position includes bending, reaching, lifting up to 35 pounds, and using computers.
Regular Schedule 22 hours per week based on Library Hours with Saturdays and one evening per week required.
