Part-Time Position at Winslow Public Library - Children's Services Technician
The Winslow Public Library (a department of the Town of Winslow) has an opening for a Children's Services Technician. This is a part-time, year-round, 21-hr a week position. This position will need to accommodate a schedule that supports programming for children 2 to 12 years old, with some morning and late afternoon hours required. The person in this position usually works 7 hours a day, 3 days a week, with Fridays and School Breaks a required component of their schedule. This position may occasionally be asked to cover other shifts if needed.
The Children's Technician works under the general guidance and supervision of the Library Director.
Duties include:
- Programming and outreach services for children.
- Provision of reference & circulation services for children.
- Computer use guidance for children.
- Use of social networking platforms to communicate library services and programs to patrons.
- Supervision of volunteer assistants for programs.
A high school degree is required, some higher education and public library experience preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the positions responsibilities may be considered.
Applicants must have proficiency with technology and experience with social media, demonstrated knowledge of literature and programming are a priority. Candidates should be well organized, dependable, and have well-developed people skills.
A full job description is posted on the library website. The salary for the position is $17.09 an hour, increasing to $18.80 July of 2026. Winslow participates jointly with employees in Social Security payments.
