The Topsham Public Library (TPL) seeks applications for a part-time Library Technician with some cataloging knowledge and experience.

The Library Technician will work with an outstanding staff and group of volunteers, under the supervision of the Assistant Director, to perform cataloging and circulation duties.

The Technician will be responsible for executing original and copy cataloging, maintaining statistics about the collection, and processing new materials for the shelves. This position will also have some shifts at the service desk to assist patrons with tasks such as locating and checking out materials, creating and updating library cards, processing interlibrary loan items, answering the phones, and basic technology help.

Applicants should have at least three years of experience in libraries with one year of cataloging. Experience importing bibliographic records, strong customer service and communication skills, and the ability to multitask are a must. College education, experience with Minerva cataloging standards, and original cataloging are strongly preferred.

Topsham is a community of approximately 9,000 people in the popular Mid-coast region, home to outdoor recreation opportunities, a thriving business sector, and a supportive library community. The average circulation consistently hovers at 100,000 items and 50,000 people use the 13,000 sq. ft. building annually. TPL is a 501c3 non-profit library which receives 85% of its funding from the Town of Topsham.

This position works 24 hours per week, which could include some evenings and Saturdays, and the rate of pay is $21.81. Benefits include pro-rated sick and vacation time. Applications will be accepted through May 29th. The successful candidate will begin at TPL as soon as possible.
