Lecture by Maine Author Jon Olsen Scheduled for March 16

In his 2014 book, Liberate Hawaii, Maine author and historian Jon Olsen argues that the 50th state was illegally annexed by the United States and should be restored as a sovereign nation. His work also outlines the role of a prominent Mainer in an alleged conspiracy to overthrow the Queen of Hawaii.

On Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 6:30 PM, the Kennebec Historical Society will host Olsen for a talk about the events along Hawaii’s path to statehood and his thoughts about the U.S. claim of sovereignty over the region. The event will be held at the Maine State Library and is free and open to the public.
