Staff Education and Training Unit (SETU) Services
The DHHS Staff Education and Training Unit (SETU) is contained within Workforce Development out of the DHHS Commissioner's Office. SETU exists to develop, deliver and support the required training and professional development needs of staff across all Program Offices within DHHS.

Required Training for all DHHS Employees
DHHS New Employee Orientation –
This is a required orientation by policy for all new DHHS employees. This half -day program includes information on the Department, defines expectations around standards of conduct, confidentiality, and other fundamental aspects of DHHS positions. DHHS HR and SETU directly manage registration. New employees receive a notification of their enrollment via email, and a Teams invitation to join the session.
Managing in State Government -
This training program provides new managers and supervisors with the critical information and resources they need to know from HR to be successful and in compliance. Topics covered in the training include talent acquisition and retention, total rewards systems and packages, employment laws and regulations, employee and labor relations, risk management, and workforce management. Enrollment is completed by an internal process between HR and SETU. Participants receive notice of enrollment by email and a Teams invitation to join the training.
Certificate Programs
SETU facilitates two professional development opportunities through certificate programs. These are comprehensive professional development activities involving a small cohort of participants who receive training, group facilitation services, evaluation of work products and goal planning for further professional development.
