Author of Book on America’s First Ladies to Speak in Augusta

Augusta - While historians and political pundits have spent countless hours researching and debating the qualities that make for a good president, award-winning producer and author Andrew Och has focused his attention to the better halves of our nation’s most distinguished power couples.

Och, known in Beltway circles as the “First Ladies Man,” will make a special appearance in Maine in November to share stories from his recently published book, Unusual for Their Time, and offer insight into the public and private lives of America’s first ladies.

“The first lady is arguably the most powerful unelected woman in the world," said Och. "Even Bess Truman, one of the quietest and seemingly uninvolved first ladies, was in on some very serious military and political decisions."

The will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 1 at the Maine State Library in Augusta. There is no cost to attend and the public is welcome. For more information call 207-287-5620.
