Falmouth Memorial Library is seeking to fill a key role for our lively and growing library. The Community Engagement & Programming Librarian, under the general direction of the Director, sets the vision for adult and all-ages programming, and works with community groups, staff, and volunteers to bring that vision to life. The successful candidate will develop and organize programs of diverse appeal, serving as liaison with outside presenters, authors, vendors, etc. They will oversee all logistics and implementation of their programs and events, coordinate with other department heads on library-wide programs and related marketing materials, and work with the Library Director and Development Director on publicity and public relations to focus on the services, programs and needs of the Library.

We are looking for a creative and friendly staff member to work collaboratively to deliver educational, entertaining, and informative programs and events. The person in this role will also work public service hours at the Reference Desk - where they provide readers' advisory, research and reference assistance, and answer technology questions. The ideal candidate enjoys working with the public, has experience planning events, and pro-actively engages with other local organizations to provide community programming. We are seeking someone who also has experience in marketing and social media, as well as digital marketing and design platforms like Constant Contact and Canva.

This position is full-time, with pay ranging from $27.00 - $34.00/hour based on skills and experience. Full time benefits include a daily 1-hour paid lunch break, 15 paid holidays, 12 sick days, 2-week vacation (increases to 3 weeks after one year of employment), 100% employer paid health insurance premiums for individuals, and retirement benefits via MEPERS, as well as offering a 401(k) with up to a 4% employer match on employee contributions.

Computer literacy, including working knowledge of PC operating systems, e-readers, tablets, etc. is required. The position requires moving around the library, which includes bending and stretching to shelve items, and lifting materials (up to 25 lbs.). Masters Degree from an ALA accredited program is preferred; as well as three to five years of library experience. Equivalent combination of education, programming, and customer service experience in other fields may be considered. Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team is required.
