Programming Librarian
The North Hampton Public Library is searching for an organized, outgoing, public service orientated, and friendly library professional to join our amazing staff in our beautiful library building! In this position, you will help plan and facilitate programs and events for adults as well as promote library services in the North Hampton community.
The mission of the North Hampton Public Library is to connect our community to resources, programs, and services that empower and inspire lifelong learning, creativity and cultural engagement. North Hampton is a small coastal town that has a strong community of library users.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Library Director, the Programming Librarian will plan and implement engaging events for adult patrons as well as create marketing materials that connect residents with our library's many offerings. This position also supports the circulation, technology and reference services, and promotion of all library services and activities throughout the community. Additional areas of focus include developing both active and passive programming for adults, providing technology support in an instructional setting and one-on-one with patrons, outreach to community organizations, and assisting with other technology initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program. Equivalent Masters degrees and relevant experience considered.
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- 1 or more years in customer service.
- 1 or more years of marketing experience at a library or similar institution.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency with Canva, MailChimp, WordPress and Microsoft Office (and open-source equivalent) products.
- Experience coordinating events and activities in a library or similar setting.
- A strong background in computers/technology and non-print materials formats.
- Strong organizational talents and attention to detail. Ability to work with community members and stakeholders and act as a liaison to promote library services.
- Experience with social media and marketing platforms, writing press releases and creating promotional materials.
- 1 or more years of experience working in a library, public library preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Normal office environment
- Regular interruptions to assist staff or public
- Consistently required to use computer or telephone, necessitating eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity
- Regularly required to move, drive, bend, and reach
- This is not a remote position, job requires you to work on-site at the library
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- $48,000-$52,000/year, depending on qualifications
- Benefits, including health insurance, dental and pto
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week.
- Weekly evening and Saturday hours are required.
