Bestselling Author Richard Ford to Speak at Maine State Library

Augusta - The Friends of the Maine State Library will host an evening with New York Times bestselling author, Richard Ford, on Friday, July 25 at 6:00 PM at the Maine State Library in Augusta. The event is free and open to the public.

Ford?s best known works include The Sportswriter and its sequels, Independence Day and The Lay of the Land. He has written several collections of short stories and holds the distinction of having authored the first novel to win both the Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award.

His most recent novel, Canada, received the 2013 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction. In a New York Times Sunday Book Review of Canada, author Andre Dubus III credited Ford with a ?level of linguistic mastery that is rivaled by few, if any, in American letters today.?
