Governor Janet Mills today announced a $6.5 million Maine Jobs & Recovery program to help Maine businesses update electrical grid capacity at their facilities to expand their operations and workforce.

With the imminent threat posed by Hurricane Lee having passed, Governor Janet Mills announced today that she has suspended the State of Emergency she declared earlier this week in preparation for the storm. The Governor suspended the State of Emergency as now Post-Tropical Cyclone Lee continues to move eastward past Prince Edward Island.

Governor Janet Mills today applauded President Biden’s approval of her request for a Presidential Emergency Disaster Declaration in anticipation of Hurricane Lee. The President approved the Governor’s request late Thursday night.

In preparation for Hurricane Lee’s impending landfall tomorrow night, Governor Mills today declared a State of Emergency and requested that President Biden issue a preemptive Presidential Emergency Disaster Declaration for Maine.

Governor Janet Mills and the Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) are urging Maine people to be prepared in advance of Hurricane Lee potentially making landfall in Maine at the end of this week.

MEMA is closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Lee and is coordinating with State public safety and transportation officials, Federal and local emergency management officials, and Maine’s utilities in advance of the storm. MEMA has placed the Emergency Operations Center on enhanced monitoring status.

Governor Janet Mills announced today that her Administration has awarded $3.7 million in grant funding through her Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan to advance projects that will restore access to vital habitat for the state’s sea-run fish species.

The Maine Department of Marine Resources has awarded funding to 12 projects that include the construction of fishways, removal of obsolete structures, and enhancement of in-stream or coastal habitats.
