Governor Janet Mills issued the following statement today on the Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology’s unanimous vote to recommend the approval of Andrew Butcher of Portland as the first president of the Maine Connectivity Authority. With today’s vote, the Maine State Senate will consider his nomination.

Governor Janet Mills announced today that the Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) has been granted intervenor status in Maine Lobstermen’s Association v National Marine Fisheries Service, a lawsuit before the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. that challenges Federal regulations hurting Maine’s vital lobster industry. It is the Mills Administration’s latest effort to stand up for the lobster industry and its hard working men and women in the face of the Federal government’s burdensome proposal.

Governor Mills announces she will also propose $7.6 million in forthcoming supplemental budget to help nursing facilities with labor costs

AUGUSTA— The Mills Administration today announced a plan to increase MaineCare (Medicaid) payment rates for 225 nursing and residential care facilities across Maine beginning January 1, 2022.

Governor Janet Mills announced today that, due to a generous grant from Northeast Delta Dental, the Maine Veterans’ Dental Network (MVDN) will resume its dental services in the New Year for Maine veterans who otherwise cannot afford them.

With inclement weather expected to cause icy roads and hazardous driving conditions, Governor Janet Mills has directed all State of Maine offices to open Thursday, December 23, 2021:

“With both snow and sleet predicted for tomorrow, we are expecting icy roads and dangerous driving conditions across much of Maine,” said Governor Mills. “I urge all Maine people to avoid driving until the roads are safe and, if you have to be on the road, drive slowly and cautiously for the sake of road crews and first responders working to keep us all safe.”

Hospitals to host ambulances and emergency medical crews that will match patients with open beds at facilities throughout Maine

Governor Janet Mills announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved Maine’s request for Federal Ambulance Teams on behalf of eight Maine hospitals. The Federal teams will assist Maine emergency medical services (EMS) crews with non-emergency transportation of patients among facilities to match patients with open beds and ensure they are treated in the facility that best meets their health care needs.
