Consistent with a directive (PDF) of the President, Governor Janet Mills ordered the United States and the State of Maine flags be lowered immediately statewide through the day of internment of former Vice President Walter Mondale who passed away yesterday. The President’s proclamation is as follows:

In accordance with a directive of the President, Governor Janet Mills extended the lowering of the United States and State of Maine flags statewide to half-staff by one more day through April 7, 2021 in honor of Congressman Alcee Hastings of Florida who passed away today.
In accordance with a directive of the President, Governor Janet Mills ordered that the United States and State of Maine flags be lowered to half-staff statewide tomorrow, Sunday, October 4, 2020 in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.
In accordance with a directive of the President, Governor Janet Mills directed that the United States and State of Maine flags be lowered to half-staff today statewide in honor of the victims and survivors of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and issued the following statement:
Governor Janet Mills directed that the United States and State of Maine flags be flown at half-staff this Friday, January 3, 2020 in the City of Bangor in honor of former Fire Chief Jeffrey Cammack. Services for Chief Cammack will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Anah Shriners, 1404 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401.
Governor Janet Mills directed that the United States and State of Maine flags be flown at half-staff this Saturday, December 13, 2019 at the State Capitol and in the City of Westbrook in honor of former State Representative Ann Peoples. Visiting hours for Representative Peoples will be held Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Dolby, Blais & Segee Chapel in Westbrook. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m.
Governor Janet Mills today directed that the United States and State of Maine flags be flown at half-staff statewide all day tomorrow, Saturday, December 7th in honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
Governor Janet Mills today announced that she has authorized the Town of Farmington and fire departments across the state to keep the United States and State of Maine flags at half-staff in honor of those who were critically injured and still recovering from the explosion in Farmington on Monday.
Additionally, Governor Mills has said she will issue an additional flag lowering directive upon the release of funeral arrangement details for the deceased.

A memorial service for Denno will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cumberland Congregational Church.
Following the release last night of details regarding the service for Detective Ben Campbell, Governor Janet Mills today directed that the United States and State of Maine flags be flown at half-staff statewide immediately until sunset on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, the day of his funeral services.
Governor Janet Mills issued the following statement today on the death of Maine State Trooper Detective Benjamin Campbell, a seven-year veteran of the Maine State Police who was struck and killed this morning in a crash on Interstate 95 in Hampden:

Governor Janet Mills today directed that the United States and State of Maine flags be flown at half-staff in the town of Westbrook from sunrise to sunset tomorrow, Saturday, March 30th, 2019, the day of funeral services for Maine Senior Airman Shawn McKeough Jr.
Airman McKeough died while attempting to prevent an armed robbery at a convenience store in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was 23 years old. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church in Westbrook, Airman McKeough’s hometown, on Saturday.
Governor Janet Mills today directed that the United States and State of Maine flags be flown at half-staff statewide from sunrise to sunset on the day of funeral services for Maine firefighter Captain Joel Barnes of Berwick who lost his life in the line of service Friday, March 1, 2019. An additional flag notice will be sent upon the scheduling of Capt. Barnes’ funeral.
