Consistent with President’s Directive, Governor Mills Extends Flag Lowering in Honor of Congressman Alcee Hastings

In accordance with a directive of the President, Governor Janet Mills extended the lowering of the United States and State of Maine flags statewide to half-staff by one more day through April 7, 2021 in honor of Congressman Alcee Hastings of Florida who passed away today.

Pursuant to law, the flags are automatically lowered to half-staff for a sitting member of Congress. This action will change the previous order to raise the flags to full-staff on the 6th. Instead, the flags will now be returned to full-staff at midnight on the 7th of April.
