1. Ratification of the Minutes of the January 29, 2025 Meeting

Motion: To ratify the January 29, 2025 minutes

2. Request for Penalty Waiver – Hon. Laura Supica       

Rep. Laura Supica, a 2024 candidate for the Maine House of Representatives, was required to file a 24-Hour Report on October 26, 2024. Her treasurer filed the report on January 22, 2025. Rep. Supica requests a waiver of the preliminary penalty of $1,938.64. Staff recommendation: the Commission staff recommends reducing the penalty to $300.

Motion: To find the report was filed late and reduce the penalty to $300

3. Request for Penalty Waiver – Hon. Holly Rae Eaton

Rep. Holly Rae Eaton, a candidate for the Maine House of Representatives, was required to file the 42-Day Post-General Report on December 17, 2024. Her treasurer filed the report on December 23. Rep. Eaton requests a waiver of the preliminary penalty of $1,117.21. Staff recommendation: the Commission staff recommends reducing the penalty to $300.

Motion: To find the report was filed late and reduce the penalty to $300

4. Proposed Stakeholder Group to Simplify Pre-Election Deadlines

The Commission will discuss convening a working group or stakeholder group to simplify deadlines for 24-Hour and Independent Expenditure reports.

Motion: To move that Commissioner Marble be appointed as Chair of the working group.
