A person other than an individual that contributes more than $100,000 a PAC or BQC for the purpose of initiating or influencing a campaign for a people’s veto referendum or citizen’s initiative is considered to be a “major contributor” under Maine Election Law. The recipient committee must provide notice to the Major Contributor, and the major contributor must file a report with the Commission. The Commission has prepared more guidance concerning this requirement in a FAQ.
