MUBEC Rules and Laws

Please note: On September 24, 2025, the Division of Building Codes and Standards moved to the Maine Office of Community Affairs. As we work on getting established under the Maine Office of Community Affairs (MOCA), this website will remain active.  Please contact the Building Codes Division at codes.MOCA@maine.gov with your questions.

The Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code is modelled after the documents linked on the Building Codes page.  Maine has adopted these national model codes and standards with amendments which are listed in Chapters 1-7 below.  The amendments outlined within the chapters should be applied to the respective code and are not stand-alone documents.
