KENNEBEC COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing paving work and making other drainage and safety improvements in Augusta and on I-95 Northbound between Augusta and Waterville. The I-95 work area begins at the Civic Center Drive Bridge and extends north 13.54 miles. This project will also involve work on Route 3 in Augusta involving paving, slope repair, updating guardrail, and drainage improvements. This work area encompasses the two roundabouts on Route 3 which provide access to I-95.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 12th and be finished by October 31st. Motorists traveling along I-95 Northbound will encounter a double lane shift between mile marker 115 and 116 from May 12 through June 6th. Exits in the impacted area may be closed overnight from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. while crews are working. Message boards will alert drivers, who should expect lane restrictions.
The contractor on this project is Pike Industries Inc. of Fairfield. The contract amount is $12,230,754.00
