Maine is one of 18 jurisdictions that regulates spirits within its borders. By controlling this product, the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations (BABLO) is the only entity that may bring liquor into the state.
Our mission is to effectively regulate the spirits industry to ensure responsible business practices and create a favorable economic climate while prohibiting sales to minors.
Starting on July 1, 2014 and for the next 10 years, the Bureau has contracted with Pine State Spirits to provide administration, warehousing and distribution for Maine spirits business. This partnership has delivered new services and systems to our essential business partners, Agency Liquor Stores. This is an exciting time for the spirits business in Maine.
The listing and pricing of distilled spirits are determined by the Bureau with assistance of the Liquor and Lottery Commission.
