Beginning January 1, 2026, the Maine Bureau of Insurance will begin offering a temporary Apprentice Insurance Producer license, pursuant to Title 24-A, §1420-Q: Apprentice insurance producer license.
The purpose of the Apprentice Insurance Producer license is to provide the opportunity for the Apprentice Insurance Producer to gain professional experience while studying for their Maine insurance producer examination. The Apprentice Insurance Producer must be sponsored by a Maine resident licensed producer who will assume all legal responsibility for all acts of the Apprentice Insurance Producer. The temporary Apprentice Insurance Producer license will be issued for a 180-day non-renewable period and the license fee is $50.
