Bob Carey, Superintendent
Bob Carey was nominated by Governor Janet Mills and confirmed by the state Senate to be the Superintendent of the Maine Bureau of Insurance in February 2024.
Superintendent Carey previously worked as an independent consultant specializing in strategic planning, commercial health insurance, and public health coverage programs. Prior to his work as a consultant, he served as the Director of Planning and Development for the Massachusetts Health Insurance Connector Authority, and prior to that was the Director of Policy and Program Management for the Massachusetts Group Insurance Commission, the state agency responsible for providing health and welfare benefits to state and municipal employees.
A resident of East Boothbay, Maine, Superintendent Carey volunteers at the regional food bank and helps split, deliver, and stack firewood for members of his community.
Superintendent Carey holds a Master of Science degree in Public Management and Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelors of Arts degree in English from the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
