Two Years In: Maine's Labor Market Recovery from the Coronavirus Pandemic

May 20, 2022 - The coronavirus pandemic was a once in a lifetime shock to society and the labor market. Two full years after that shock, the labor market is near full recovery. In April, 2022 the number of jobs is about where it was before the pandemic, and unemployment is close to the lows from more than two years ago. Some sectors of the economy and areas of the state have recovered better than others. This brief examines the broad job, unemployment, and wage trends in the first 24 months of recovery after the pandemic first disrupted the labor market. (Read more)
