Rep. Vicki Doudera is serving her fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives and represents Camden and Rockport. She is House chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee.

Doudera also serves on the Maine Climate Council’s Science and Technical Subcommittee and is the founder and co-chair of the Legislature’s Gun Safety Caucus. She has previously served on the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee and the Marine Resources Committee.

Doudera bill to promote use of recycled plastic to go into effect

AUGUSTA - Legislation to promote the use of post-consumer recycled plastic content in beverage containers, sponsored by Rep. Vicki Doudera, D-Camden, will go into effect Monday, August 8.

LD 1467 creates a minimum post-consumer recycled content requirement (PCR) for all plastic beverage containers sold in Maine beginning with 25% PCR by 2026 and increasing to 30% PCR by 2031.

In that spirit, she invited the Camden Hills Regional High School girls' swim team, the Class A state champions, and Victor Clayton, a Camden-Rockport Middle School student and winner of the Maine Scholastic Individual K-5 Chess Championship, to the Maine State House in recognition of their achievements.

Bipartisan group of Maine lawmakers urge Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker to terminate NECEC

AUGUSTA - A bipartisan group of 50 Maine lawmakers today sent Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker a letter urging him to respect the vote of Maine people and do everything in his power to terminate the New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) project and seek an alternative project from other bids that were received. On November 2, an overwhelming majority of Maine voters approved a referendum that bans construction of a transmission line such as the NECEC in the Upper Kennebec Region in Maine.

Doudera bill to reduce child access to loaded firearms becomes law

AUGUSTA - A bill to reduce child access to loaded firearms by enforcing the use of safe storage became law Thursday. LD 759, sponsored by Rep. Vicki Doudera, D-Camden, states that a parent, foster parent, guardian or other person caring for a child, who acts with criminal negligence by storing or leaving a loaded firearm where a child under 16 years of age can gain access to and use the firearm, can be charged with having committed a Class D crime.

Doudera bill to have state agencies prioritize environmental justice signed into law

AUGUSTA - A measure to help achieve greenhouse gas emissions reduction levels in decisions made by the Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) and prioritize equity and environmental justice among state agencies, LD 1682, sponsored by Rep. Vicki Doudera, D-Camden, was signed into law last week by Gov. Janet Mills.

Doudera bill to ban sale of cosmetics tested on animals signed into law

AUGUSTA - A measure to ban the sale of cosmetics tested on animals, LD 1551, sponsored by Rep. Vicki Doudera, D-Camden, was signed into law last week by Gov. Janet Mills. The measure states that a manufacturer may not sell or offer to sell a cosmetic product that was developed or manufactured using animal testing on or after November 1, 2021.
