Governor Mills Thanks MEMA Director Suzanne Krauss For Her Service

Governor Janet Mills announced today that Maine Emergency Management Agency and Deputy Homeland Security Advisor Suzanne Krauss has stepped down to pursue a position in the private sector.

"Suzanne has been a tremendous asset to the State of Maine and a leader in emergency management practices both at home and nationwide," said Governor Mills. "I am thankful for her service, and I wish her the very best."

"It has been an enormous privilege to have led MEMA, an organization with such a critical mission," said Suzanne Krauss. "My time here has been marked with building an incredibly talented and professional staff; improving whole-of-community and whole-of-government relationships with state, local, and federal partners; and focusing preparedness and mitigation efforts toward a ready and resilient Maine. I am confident that MEMA and the county and local emergency management agency partners across the state will continue to identify risk and advance Maine's security and resilience posture."

Krauss is a 1995 graduate of Boston University’s International Relations program and a 2017 graduate of the U.S. Naval War College master’s program in National Security and Strategy Studies. A Captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve, she has 24 years of military service. Krauss will join the private sector as KBR's Project Lead in support of multiple unmanned aircraft system (UAS) platforms.

Governor Mills has appointed Peter Rogers, who is the Deputy Director of MEMA, to serve as Acting Director.
