Governor Mills Statement on the Anniversary of Roe V. Wade

Governor Janet Mills issued the following statement in honor of the 47th Anniversary of Roe V. Wade:

“Today we mark the 47th Anniversary of Roe V. Wade – a decision that preserved and protected in law the fundamental right of a woman to make her own health care decisions. Since then, we have fought to maintain that right as forces, particularly politicians, seek to undermine, rollback, or outright eliminate it. In the past year, Maine has made progress in making reproductive services more available to women, and, as Governor, I will always work to ensure that every person has access to sexual and reproductive health care when and where they need it. As we mark this anniversary, let us remain vigilant in defending women’s rights and recommit ourselves to making further progress for reproductive health care in Maine.”
